FAQ - Delivery Info
When should I order for Christmas (or any time)
You can order whenever you are ready from now, simply specify your chosen delivery at checkout from our drop down calendar. This is the day we will deliver your order. You can specify any additional delivery info in our 'special instructions' box at checkout. You will always receive a confirmation of your order so do check you receive this (and check your spam/junk folder if it doesn't automatically pop into your email account)
Last orders for Christmas delivery must be with us by Monday 16th December by mid-day. HOWEVER, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT DELIVERY SLOTS WILL BOOK UP QUICKLY, WE CAN ONLY SEND SO MUCH OUT IN ONE DAY, THEN WE WILL HAVE TO CUT OFF, SO PLEASE ORDER EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT.
Our last despatch date before Christmas will be Thursday 19th December for delivery Friday 20th December. We like to err on the side of caution, with couriers at Christmas, we cannot guarantee next day delivery due to volume and we don't want to let you down, so do get your order in with us. Please do allow an extra day at Christmas time due to the busy period for couriers.
Post Christmas, our next despatch date this year will not be until Thursday 2nd January for delivery Friday 3rd Jan. We will then be open as usual the following week into 2025
The Best Before dates on the cheese will be at their peak if you request a delivery date for your order just a few days before you intend to eat it. All cheeses and pies you order will have good dates for Christmas and beyond
Delivery & Tracking
We offer nationwide delivery and can deliver to your home, caterer or chosen venue. We like to deliver our wedding cheese cakes at least two days before the event. So, for weekend weddings, we would look to deliver on the Thursday at the latest but can accommodate any date you choose prior to this. For all general orders, we deliver Tuesdays – Fridays. We send all parcels by overnight next day courier. We can offer a timed before mid-day service if needed at an additional charge. All our parcels can be tracked and we offer a text prediction service, so by supplying a mobile we can send a text on the day of delivery advising the hour in which your delivery is due. We can also deliver to the Highlands and Islands, so if your wedding is in the Scottish highlands or Isle of Wight, then we will need to quote for this accordingly, as some of these addresses will need a two-day delivery service.
We will put Christmas orders on a 'SAFE PLACE' service which means it doesn't require a signature so it doesn't matter if nobody is at home, however if you have a particular Safe Place or you do not want this service then do let us know at checkout in our special instructions box. If for any reason you don't get a time slot, it may be because the courier hasn't scanned it in at the depot.
If you do have any delivery or tracking issues, please do try our courier DPD direct on: 0121 275 4815, quoting your tracking no. You'll also need the postcode of where it is being delivered and contact details of the recipient.
What if I don’t like a cheese in one of the selections?
We are more than happy to offer alternative selections, we have a wide range of cheese available to us, although at Christmas peak period, we don't have sufficient time to discuss individual needs, so if you like one of our cheese boxes but don't want the goats cheese within the box or you don't like blue - then please just specify this in our 'special instructions box' at checkout. If you have a particular substitute then we will do our utmost to include this within the box. Alternatively, if nothing specified apart from 'no blue' for example -then we will make a substitute for you
How will your order arrive?
All our orders are packaged in simple brown outer boxes with special ice packs (if warm) to preserve the cheese temperature and keep everything cool for up to 48 hours, so please don't worry if it takes a little longer. Your will either be in one of our branded boxes or will clearly have one of our branded stickers along with 'please refrigerate upon arrival' on the box, so if delivering to an alternative address, it should be clear the parcel is from West Country Cheese. We use either bubble wrap for our larger orders or wood shred for protection in transit unless otherwise stated. If you have specified a gift box or chosen a cheese gift and it states it will arrive in a gift box, then this will be presented as stated and packed in a plain outer box for transit.
What to do when your cheese arrives
Please refrigerate all cheese upon receipt of arrival or a cold part of the house, such as cellar. Don't forget to bring up to room temperature before serving
How long will my cheese last
Please note softer cheeses will not have more than approx two weeks on them and harder cheeses and cheddars will have longer, possibly up to three months. However, please be aware if ordering a box with 'cut cheese' i.e; we have cut from a larger wheel, then the shelf life will be approx two weeks max on hard cheeses for the best tasting experience.
Some, cheeses once cut, will have dry areas once opened and exposed to air, so for any unused cheese, please wrap in cling film and pop back in the fridge.
Cheese Subscription Box
Please place your order and choose a delivery date at checkout. This is the date the first cheese subscription box will be delivered. Within the subscription box will be an introductory letter which will then give the subsequent dates for delivery of the remaining boxes. (these can be changed at any time by the recipient). If you'd prefer a 'gift subscription letter' to go out then please still choose a delivery date, however clearly put in our special instructions box that you require a subscription letter for the first delivery. We will then send the gift subscription letter out for delivery on this date. The recipient will then have all the info they need to order their subsequent cheese subscription boxes from us for when it suits them.
