ABOUT USEstablished since 2002, the business was taken over in October 2007 and is now owned and managed by Debbie Priestley. A love of great food and cooking, a passion for local produce, individual shops, and a desire to be her own boss was the perfect combination for The West Country Cheese Company.
Our passion for cheese, however, extends into a mild obsession. So you’ll also find a good selection of European favourites, from wonderful aged Gouda’s to ripe French Brie de Meaux including some wonderful smelly delicacies such as Munster and Epoisses. We also stock handmade butter, local tea, coffee & clotted cream, chutneys, pickles, relishes, jams, olives, locally smoked trout, ham and other nibbles.
We also want our customers to have a personal shopping experience, so whether you are popping in for one piece of lovely cheese or you want enough cheese to feed a wedding party, our friendly staff will be on hand to help and advise and no doubt, insist you try before you buy. Beats supermarket pre-packed shopping any day! |
WHERE TO FIND USIf you’re here in North Devon, do come and visit us, you’ll find us down famous Butchers Row in historic Barnstaple. It’s a great row of independent little shops with a Baker’s, Butcher, Fishmonger’s, Deli, Café, and Florist and last but by no means least, our Cheese shop, crammed full of lovely stuff.
Butchers Row is located in the centre of Barnstaple, just off the high street and opposite the Pannier Market. The Barnstaple Bus and Train station are all within short walking distance as are the town centre car parks
